Meukow XO Grande Champagne Cognac
Meukow XO Grande Champagne Cognac is, as the name suggests, an exclusive blend of Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru of Cognac. Harmonious and refined, this well-balanced expression has been aged for over ten years in French oak, giving it a fruity and floral aromatic persistence, typical of eaux-de-vie of this provenance. Fruity and aromatic with a delightfully complex and lengthy finish, it’s a Cognac for those who enjoy the finer things in life.
Meukow was founded by two brothers from Silesia, August-Christophe and Gustav Meukow, and is today one of the few Russian Cognac brands in the Charente region. Initially sent to source Cognac for Tsar Alexander II in 1850, the brothers travelled back and forth for years in their search for the most prestigious casks. Seeing an opportunity to start up business for themselves, in 1862 they decided to remain in France and opened their distillery.
The company grew rapidly, managed under the influence of prestigious shareholders like Henri Bouraud, the Mayor of Cognac from 1849 to 1869. Today, Meukow Cognac is distributed in over 80 countries around the world. Cellar Master Anne Sarteaux oversees all production of Meukow Cognac, and with her distinctive style and attention to detail, she carries on traditions that have been passed down since the house was founded.
Presentation of the Bottle
Presented in the classic rounded Meukow bottle with a platinum pouncing panther motif molded onto the glass, this is a decanter that immediately draws the eye. Due to its distinctive design, the brand is sometimes referred to as the ‘jaguar spirit’.
